Milton Keynes racing driver, Andrew Jarman took a debut win in Race 2 at last weekend’s British GT opener during an action packed Easter weekend at Cheshire’s, Oulton Park circuit which saw Jarman and co-driver Devon Modell secure a podium 3rd place in Race 1, topping off a superb weekend.
Driving for Aston Martin customer team TF Sport with the support of Milton Keynes sponsors TXM Plant, Raildoor Solutions, TXM Recruit and Albatros UK, Jarman started 3rd on the grid for Race 1 and put in a solid stint before handing over to team mate Devon Model whilst the race was under the Safety Car due to an accident at Knickerbrook Chicane.
With a race win in sight, a mix-up whilst under Safety Car conditions left half the field a lap down as the circuit went green, putting pay to any chance of victory but team mate Model put in a determined end to the race to secure 3rd place and TF Sport’s first British GT podium.
Jarman was determined to reach the top step in Race 2 and team mate Model did everything needed to maintain the pairings 4th place starting position, with only a brief Safety Car period, prior to the pit stop window opening, cancelling out his hard work which closed up the field as Jarman started his run to the flag in the team’s GT4 Aston Martin Vantage.
With the race back underway, Jarman was soon working his way to the front, taking 3rd place and chasing down the leader only for a third Safety Car appearance of the weekend to close up the field once again.
With the majority of the GT4 field now bunched together as the circuit went green with just 7 minutes to go, Jarman successfully executed a late dive down the inside of Old Hall (first corner) to take the lead and from there continued to extend his lead to bring the TF Sport Aston Martin GT4 to a sensational debut victory.
Jarman said: “Moving up from the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge, which is a great championship, to British GT, I didn’t know how much of a jump it would be. TF Sport and I wanted to show that we could run at the front and, today, we have done that. It has been a fantastic effort by the TF Sport team and by Devon (Modell) all weekend. We are a strong pairing and this gives us a great platform on which to build upon for the rest of the season.
I have to say a huge thank you to my Milton Keynes sponsors TXM Plant, Raildoor Solutions, TXM Recruit and Albatros UK for all their support and everyone who’s helped to make this possible and come along to support me this weekend.
Off the back of today, the target has to be more wins at the next meeting [Rockingham], but I’m under no illusion. We’ve had a great weekend, but it has been a lot of hard work and it’s a long season with long races, it starts all over again at Rockingham.”
